Wallingford Wellbeing exists to make it easier for local people to discover practitioners, services, activities and ideas that may support their health and wellbeing.
We want this to feel like a trusted and welcoming place. For us, trust begins with care, openness and clear information about what we do, and what we do not do.
How practitioners are selected
Wallingford Wellbeing is a curated local directory, rather than an open listing platform.
Practitioners must be based in, work within or provide a relevant service to Wallingford and the surrounding area. We look for practitioners whose work aligns with our values of professionalism, inclusion, accessibility, responsible practice and genuine care for the people they support.
Before a listing is accepted, practitioners are asked to provide accurate information about their:
Training, qualifications and experience
Professional registrations or memberships, where applicable
Current professional or public liability insurance, where appropriate
Services, prices and contact details
Scope of practice and the people they are qualified to support
We reserve the right to decline or remove a listing where it does not align with our standards, contains misleading or unsupported claims, or gives us reasonable cause for concern.
What we mean by “trusted”
When we describe Wallingford Wellbeing as a trusted directory, we mean that it is locally curated and that practitioners are expected to provide clear, accurate and responsible information about their work.
It does not mean that Wallingford Wellbeing guarantees a particular practitioner, treatment, service or outcome. No practitioner will be the right fit for every person, and individual experiences will naturally vary.
We encourage you to read each profile carefully, ask questions and make the choice that feels right for your individual needs.
Qualifications, registration and insurance
Health and wellbeing includes a wide range of professions and practices. Some are regulated by law, while others are overseen by voluntary professional bodies or are not formally regulated in the UK.
Where relevant to their work, practitioners are asked to provide evidence of appropriate qualifications, current insurance and membership or registration with any professional body they refer to in their listing.
These checks reflect the information available at the time a practitioner joins or renews their listing. Wallingford Wellbeing is not a regulatory or professional body and cannot continuously monitor every practitioner’s professional status.
Practitioners remain responsible for maintaining their qualifications, insurance, registrations and professional standards, and for notifying us if anything material changes.
Visitors may also wish to check a practitioner’s registration directly with the relevant professional body before booking.
Listing is not clinical endorsement
Being included in the Wallingford Wellbeing directory means that a practitioner has met our listing requirements. It does not constitute clinical approval, accreditation or a personal recommendation from Wallingford Wellbeing or Michelle Hammond.
Practitioners operate independently and are responsible for:
The accuracy of their profile and promotional claims
The suitability and delivery of their services
Their professional conduct and standards
Their prices, bookings and cancellation policies
Their own client records, consent processes and data protection
Working safely and within the limits of their training and competence
Wallingford Wellbeing does not diagnose conditions, recommend one practitioner over another or enter into the professional relationship between a practitioner and their client.
If you have a concern
If your concern relates to an appointment, payment, cancellation or experience with a practitioner, we would normally encourage you to contact the practitioner directly first. Most concerns can be resolved most effectively in this way.
If you believe that a directory listing is inaccurate or misleading, or you have a concern about safety, professional conduct or the suitability of someone appearing in the directory, please contact Info@WallingfordWellbeing.co.uk.
Please include the practitioner’s name and enough information for us to understand your concern. We will treat what you share respectfully and sensitively.
Where appropriate, we may:
Ask the practitioner to clarify or correct information
Request further evidence
Temporarily pause or remove a listing
Direct you to the relevant professional or regulatory body
Wallingford Wellbeing is not able to investigate clinical complaints or make findings about professional misconduct. Where a practitioner belongs to a regulatory or professional body, that organisation may be the appropriate place to raise a formal complaint.
If you believe someone is in immediate danger or requires urgent medical assistance, contact the emergency services or an appropriate healthcare service.
Editorial and advertising policy
Wallingford Wellbeing Magazine, the directory, website, events and other content are independently curated with the interests of our local community in mind.
We aim to share content that is useful, inclusive, responsible and relevant to health, wellbeing and community life. We do not knowingly publish misleading claims, guarantee health outcomes or present complementary approaches as replacements for appropriate medical care.
Practitioners, contributors and advertisers are responsible for ensuring that the information and claims they provide are accurate, lawful and capable of being supported.
Paid-for content will be clearly identified where necessary using wording such as:
Sponsored content
Paid partnership
Promotional feature
Payment for an advertisement, directory listing or partnership does not guarantee positive editorial coverage and does not amount to clinical endorsement by Wallingford Wellbeing.
A practitioner may advertise with us and also contribute to editorial content. Where this happens, we aim to keep commercial arrangements and editorial decisions appropriately separate and transparent.
We reserve the right to edit, decline, correct or remove content that:
Could mislead readers
Makes unsupported medical or health claims
Falls outside a contributor’s apparent scope of practice
Is discriminatory, unsafe or inconsistent with our values
Information shared by Wallingford Wellbeing is provided for general interest and education. It is not a substitute for individual medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
If you are concerned about your health, taking prescribed medication or considering a change to your treatment, please speak with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
